Women’s Day Card

Women’s Day Card

I made this beautiful card for a dear friend of mine! Her birthday is around the Women’s day and I felt it was a perfect combo-birthday and women’s day greetings rolled into one!

I use card-stock from a local vendor and I love that it holds both watercolors and Copic Colors well! Works well for one layered cards as well as for layered cards.

I start with a 4.25 X 5.5 card base and use Distress inks to create the background.

I started out with my 3 favorite Distress ink colors- Worn Lipstick, Salty Ocean and Mustard Seed and press the inkpads liberally on the Craft Mat. A few spritzes of water on the ink and then laying the card over the mat, allowing it to absorb the ink and blend.

I stamped the image of the woman from the Work it Out set by Simon Says Stamp using Versafine Onyx Black ink and used Copics to color. This image reminds me of my friend- calm, composed and unflappable!

I fuzzy cut the stamped image and mounted it on the colourful background. I used 3 sentiments from different brands- You are ( My Favorite Things) Amazing ( Avery Elle) and One in a Million ( Fiskars). I think, the combination of sentiments has worked well to express what I wanted to say. I decided the last sentiment- One in a million- would look better embossed on vellum.

After this, of course, Shreya HAD to add her touch to my card. The tiny stars you see all over, well, they are her idea.

So, there you have it! A simple card for a wonderful friend!

I love the stamp set, has beautiful images and sentiments- I guess you are going to see me use them a lot more in my future cards.

I’ve listed all of the products that I used below
